ELKConnect

Facebook asks for a number at sign-up, for two-factor authentication, and to reopen a locked account. A rented line answers all three, with one caveat worth knowing.

Sign up without handing over your line

A rented number is enough to register, and your personal line stays out of the largest contact directory in the world.

A number for a business page

A company page verified with a dedicated number, which several people on the team can read inside ELK Connect.

Codes stay readable

Every SMS received is kept in your account history, on every device you sign in from.

Frequently asked questions

Does Facebook accept virtual numbers?
Often yes for verification SMS. Facebook does apply its own filters and may refuse a number with no explanation — that is its call, not ours.
Can I recover a locked account with a new number?
No, and this matters: recovery goes through the number or address ALREADY on the account. A new number does not reopen an account it was never attached to.
Is the number visible on my profile?
Not by default, and you control its visibility in Facebook's privacy settings. That is set on their side, not ours.

Worth knowing

Facebook sometimes asks for an identity document rather than a code, especially on a recent account. No number replaces that check.
